Today’s post is about a unique luxury property I visited in Austin, Texas. If you are looking for unique getaways in Austin or staycations at private furnished homes, look into Lodgewell! They are still a smaller company, but the properties they have are beautiful.
~ It’s been almost a year ever since I wrote my blog post. It feels somewhat new to be back. Many of you told me in person or over social media that you miss my blog posts, and I really appreciate your support. It makes me happy hearing those encouragements. ~
For this stay, I booked directly with Lodgewell for one night. The Bloomhouse is listed on Airbnb, but I think Airbnb only lets you book for two nights or more. The Bloomhouse takes between $550-$750/night however you can fit up to 4 people; which if you split it, it’s not too bad. Is it worth it? Depends on what you are looking for. I wanted to go somewhere peaceful, quiet, unique, untouched, surrounded by nature, middle of nowhere etc, which The Bloomhouse was perfect for. A place to relax for a night or two, or even longer and appreciate the magical architectural design… Here’s an interesting story behind how The Bloomhouse happened :)
The adventure starts as soon as you drive into Austin. The Bloomhouse is located in the West Lake Hills area, but deep inside. You know that moment when you drive and you keep seeing the endless S-shaped roads, and you know, ‘oh we are definitely going somewhere?’ That’s what I experienced and knew this was going to be really fun! We arrived at night around 8pm and the roads didn’t have any lights so it was like ‘yay we are really going into the middle of nowhere’.
When we finally parked, we saw this giant creature hidden inside the forest, and our initial reaction was “WOAH!” I mean wouldn’t you say the same? It was as like this creature was actually breathing and calmly waiting for us to arrive. Luckily, the creature let us in without any problems ;)
The best way to view the entire home is from the patio. Along with this beautiful kitchen, dining area, and the bedroom, there’s a cozy upper attic on the second floor where the creature’s eye is. You can see the tour of The Bloomhouse on my Instagram @clairebearblogs.
If you do check out this place, please let me know what your initial thoughts are about the bathroom. Judging by the looks, I felt like the bathroom didn’t look the most user-friendly, especially the way the shower booth was setup. However, unlike what I assumed, it was comfortable and perfectly structured! The toilet area was spacious which made me realize that the architects really took into consideration of our convenience. This for me was interesting and memorable because sometimes building designs might wow you but might not be as simple-to-use.
This is the daytime view of The Bloomhouse. By the way, make sure to wear sneakers or bring one. There’s a steep road to get to The Bloomhouse from the top (where you park) and wearing flip flops isn’t the best idea. The creasure seems to be calmly saying bye to you in the morning.
I definitely would go back here again. It’s so magnificent and peaceful. You hear people talking somewhere in the woods but you cannot see them which is great. I’ve never stayed in such a quirky place like this before and you should totally check this place out! The neighborhood here is filled with private and modern homes.
Lastly, their customer service is outstanding. They have snacks and other basic amenities like soaps, shampoo, tissue, towels, water, etc including a good Wi-Fi connection. You can request for a late checkout, however it depends on the availability.
